Don’t think you’re on the right road just because it’s a well-beaten path… someone once said that, the society exists because human beings like existing within groups that show similar human patterns. we feed on patterns ,everything from sex to fashion is governed by patterns. we dress in a certain manner no matter how crazy and uncomfortable it would seem to a rational mind because of preestablished patterns that give us confidence that we will be accepted. Think of any aspect of human life and patterns litter from top to bottom.
in this article i will be talking about my struggles into achieving a better me, both religious wise and personality wise. i have always had an inner burning fire that can only be quenched by information. I refuse to die in ignorance having lived a life full of lies, a life of comfort ,of conformity and of convenience.
we are taught to celebrate financial success, big car, nice clothes, holidays in exotic destinations… it is seen to be the epitome life, but ask a man with all this and you realize it is not so perfect. human beings are never satisfied ,we always want more. life begins when we move beyond human gratification, when we can give without the need for recognition, when we have a nice car that we enjoy driving without the need for people to
Read, every day, something no one else is reading. Think, every day, something no one else is thinking. Do, every day, something no one else would be silly enough to do. It is bad for the mind to continually be part of unanimity.
I will begin with the biggest of my demons, Religion. ever since i was old enough to make rational decisions i have always en-devoured to attain a deeper understanding of all religions. from Christianity to Islam to Buddhism. I have always been bothered by the view that it is Us against them, the notion that we are right and they are wrong.
Do i hate religion… yes! i however love Jesus, religion creates bondage.. it says do but Jesus and God says done, that i dont have to avoid doing it because i fear the consequences but i should not do it because i dont want to. you see the problem with religion is that it creates slavery, that i have to be saved in expectation of something in return. you see we pray because we want to pass exams, a better job, we want hope, we want belonging but when God talks of Unconditional love he means that you will love Him whether he offers you help or does not. He is a father, i love my father because… i love him.. it is that simple..because he is my father, this means that i shall love him whether by getting saved i gain favor or i dont.
if religion is so good, why does it start so many wars? why does the church build expensive churches instead of feeding the poor. Jesus did not come with a religion ,man created the religious institutions, Jesus brought the word for all, so if this is the case.. why do we think that other religions are wrong ? that He came for us ,with a message for Us ,that we are the chosen few.
religion is an institution, it evolves, the gospel however does not change. most people however cannot differentiate this two. to me this is as dangerous as terrorism. look back to the 1850s, where anti Catholics were persecuted, which is against the teachings of Jesus, this shows how institutional the church can be, when religion turns to Reason and established traditions instead of the gospel, Gods word.
in the modern church this is seen in the never ending changing church opinions, from gay rights, political battles, abortion, the various church traditions. if the church was not institutional it would have to change positions because the reference of truth remains the same ..the bible and its teachings remain the same.
in my quest i dont want to be caught up in this net of religious institutions, where my belief is governed by what the church says. i want to believe in something because i read it in the bible, i understood it and it made my life better.
